Day 7

Day 7 – A Photo That Makes You Happy

Kimber in the SunThis is my fabulous puppy Kimber.  I use the term puppy loosely, she actually turns 2 in April.

If anyone follows me regularly on Facebook or anything you will know that back a couple of months ago my little 7 pound dog had 8 seizures in the space of less than 24 hours.  She now takes anti-convulsion medication to make sure she doesn’t have them anymore, and hopefully at the end of the year she will be able to stop taking them, but I am very very happy to have her with me still.  That was a very scary time for me.

She absolutely loves to lay in the sun and sprawl out and I think it’s just the cutest thing.  🙂

Day 5

Day 5 – Your Favorite Quote

I am no artist, I am a dreamer

Who takes a pencil

And shows the world, what I see.

Once upon a time I actually did a presentation involving this quote when I was in grade 10 that caused me to cry mid speech – which was rather embarrassing.

This quote really impacts me because I am such a creative individual but I don’t really consider myself an artist in the definition sense of the term I guess.  It’s true I do create quite a bit, I sew costumes and clothing, I paint, I sculpt, I draw, I dabble in digital art, I craft, I knit – in short I do all sorts of things that I consider “artsy” but I wouldn’t really consider any of my work museum worthy or anything like that.

If I can dream it, I can make it real – and that’s really just a philosophy I try to live by.

Day 4

Day 4 – Your Favorite Book

While I am quite the bookworm I never really have the opportunity to read that often.  Generally when I read something it’s because someone else has recommended it to me.  Most recently I read the Twilight series and much to my surprise I actually enjoyed it.

However, for a book to be my most favorite book of any that I’ve ever read it really has to have touched my life in some way.  Meaning, I changed from reading this book.

When I was a freshman in high school (grade 9) we did a segment in my English class regarding the Holocaust.  I think this class when my interest in the subject first really started.  The Holocaust was so baffling to me, and I really wanted to learn everything I could about it.  Not really for understanding, just to hear the stories of these people.  Their story, their plight, it really gripped me and I think it will always hold onto me.

In that English class we read Night by Elie Wiesel

If you’ve never read this book – you should.  It’s fairly short, and very easy reading – but it is a story that will stay with you your whole life.  I’ve had the opportunity to read other of Elie’s works and I will still say that Night is my absolute favorite.

Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, that turned my life into one long night seven times sealed.
Never shall I forget that smoke.
Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw transformed into smoke under a silent sky.
Never shall I forget those flames that consumed my faith for ever.
Never shall I forget the nocturnal silence that deprived me for all eternity of the desire to live.
Never shall I forget those moments that murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to ashes.
Never shall I forget those things, even were I condemned to live as long as God Himself.

Day 3 – Your Favorite Television Program

As someone who is a gamer/seamstress/full time student/part time worker I rarely make time to watch television.  If I’m not online in EverQuest2 or World of Warcraft I’m playing Final Fantasy XIII and if I’m not gaming I’m sewing, doing homework, or working.

My days feel so busy lately – with ACen coming up I feel like I’m in a constant seamstress state….all I hear is the sewing machine.

With that said – when I do watch television I don’t really have any one specific favorite show.  As a culinary student I really enjoy Food Network’s Iron Chef America challenges.  I would also sit down to watch CSI or Law and Order.  Maybe even Heroes, House, or White Collar.

As far as a show that I absolutely have to see whenever a new episode is on?  I don’t do that.  If it gets recorded on our DVR I might sit down to watch it a day or two later, but usually I will just watch it when it’s in reruns during the day (like while turning 12 little ribbons for Rikku sleeves).

I’m just not a TV person /shrug  There are a few shows that I enjoy and will watch if I actually happen to be in front of a TV when it’s on.  As far as something I go out of my way to watch….there isn’t anything.

Day 2

Day 2 –  Your Favorite Movie

My favorite movie is much much easier for me to choose than my favorite song.  I love movies in general.  Most movies, I will not go to and say, “Man that was a terrible movie, what a waste of money.”  Usually I like the movies I see.  However, the movies I LOVE are the one’s that really stick with me, one’s that I can watch repeatedly and not be bored of them.

My very favorite takes me back to my childhood, and maybe yours too.  The Little Mermaid has got to be my favorite movie of all time.  When I was a kid I loved to watch Ariel and her friends.  I loved the music.  Now when I watch Ariel I get more out of the film.  You know those kids movies that have the hidden messages that you don’t get when you’re 6 years old – well if you haven’t seen The Little Mermaid in a long time I recommend watching it.

Just remember:  The seaweed is always greener, in somebody else’s lake.

Day 1

Day 1 – Your Favorite Song

For me it’s very difficult to pick one specific song to call my favorite.  I feel I listen to quite a wide variety of music and my favorite song(s) is/are very dependent upon my mood at the time.  I have a lot of artists that I listen to regularly – my top five probably being:  Paramore, Matthew Good, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Marie Digby

If I had to pick an absolute favorite song, something that really touches my life and is important to me – it would probably be Paramore’s Hallelujah.  I have some very special moments that I share with the Riot! album but that one in particular, when I’m feeling down, I think of this song and pick myself back up.

If you’ve never heard Hallelujah, or never heard Paramore – I really suggest checking them out.  They have three albums: All We Know Is Falling, Riot!, and Brand New Eyes – they also did the song Decode from the movie Twilight (if you’re into that sort of thing) which plays during the end credits.  Fabulous band 🙂
